Spring Break in the Mediterranean-part 3

Moving on to our next stop....Mallorca, Spain.  

Mallorca is an island off the east coast of Spain.  
One of our favorite stops of the entire cruise....although we really had a great time in each and every port.  

We decided to walk around the marina and into the old city. We knew it was a pretty good walk and some of the group took taxis.  It was a gorgeous day and we really enjoyed walking along and looking at the yachts...some big....some small...some sinking!

Our goal was to walk to the most famous landmark and the building that dominates the skyline,  the Cathedral.   It was begun in the 1200's and completed in the 1400's.  It is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever seen.  It was massive!

It was quite a long walk to the church, but it was so worth it.  We took lots of pictures and then we headed off into the small twisted streets around that were full of little shops and restaurants.


















We wandered awhile and then found a Dunkin' coffee that looked just like a Dunkin' Donuts and went in for a potty break and some donuts.  They were pretty good!  

Travis even found himself a Bratwurst in Spain!!

After doing a lot of window shopping for watches and shoes, we decided to head back to the ship.

  Would you believe after all that shopping we were a bit confused on which way to go.  We finally asked for directions and found out we had walked about as far past the church in the wrong direction as we had going to the church from the ship.  In other words, we now had twice as far to walk to get back to the ship. 

  It was soooooo far!!   

We stopped on the way for dinner because we had missed getting back to the ship in time for our dining time. We found a little Italian restaurant (I know...what we we eating Italian for when we were in Mallorca??? But we were trying to please a big group of picky eaters...o.k.!!)  It was owned and run by a 60 year old native Mallorcan named Ramon.  He was so cute!  The food was fabulous! 

 Missy and Travis had calzones..handmade with homemade pizza crust.  I had some amazing ravioli.  Ramon even made a plain pizza crust for Kailey!   After our dinner break we had some helado or spanish gelado and then continued walking to the ship.  We figured we walked over 10 miles that day!   Talk about sore feet and sore legs.....time for the jacuzzi.

Good night Mallorca...we would love to come back and visit again sometime!

Next stop....Barcelona, Spain!
