Oooh La La!

Just a quick blog entry this week.  Mike has been SO busy with a big exercise going on at work that we've hardly seen him.  It makes me step into my full time single parent role and that is time intensive!

The fun part of the week was putting on a "Mormon Prom" for the Juniors and Seniors in our stake.  There were a group of us ladies who all felt that there should be an alternative prom for those who didn't want pay or couldn't afford to pay for the very expensive high school prom.  There were some who also didn't want their teens to have to be stuck in what could be a not very good atmosphere for the whole evening.   The high school prom was expensive because they booked a Rhine River cruise boat for the evening and chartered buses to take the kids there.  Travis will be going with his date for the evening, Shelby.  He used some creative financing to afford it (thanks to his date, Shelby!)

Anyway...back to the LDS prom that we put on Friday.  The theme was "A Night in Paris" and we used some of the decorations from when as a stake relief society we decorated for the Gold and Green Ball 2011.  We reused the big lighted Eiffel Tower and the Bistro scene.

Sharma also put together the cutest Photo Booth with props.  The kids loved that and so did the adults!

For dinner we made them Pasta Carbonara, Spinach Salad, Tossed Salad and Bread with oil and balsamic vinegar or butter.  After we cleaned dinner away, we set up the Dessert Table.  It was full of Pots du Chocolate,  Creme Brulee, Pistachio Mousse, Cookies, Mints and a wonderful cake made by Kirsten Donnelly.

We were expecting about 60 from the RSVP's but sadly only 30 showed up.  But the thirty that were there had a great time!!

We are looking forward to this coming week and more company arriving.  Mike's cousin, Hal and his wife Diane arrive by train on Wednesday and will be here a week.  Mike will just be finishing up this long exercise and then we can have some fun!

love and miss you all,
