Running around with the Rosens-Part Two

Thanks for coming back for part two...

Sunday was spent sleeping in, going to church and having a yummy Mexican feast for dinner.  The next day, Mike had to work in the morning so I took Hal and Diane to theRamstein AB KMCC for a little shopping and then met Mike for lunch.

 The three of them then headed off for Heidelberg.

They had a great time and were back in time to pack their suitcases and get ready for their last full day in Germany.  The plan was to get up early and drive to Rothenberg ob der Tauer to spend the day. Then we would drop them off at their hotel in Frankfurt so they could catch an early morning flight home to Utah.
The weather didn't look like it wanted to cooperate and even rained a bit on our way there.  By the time we arrived around 11:00, the weather changed it's mind...like it does often around here and we were blessed with some scattered sunshine and moderate temps...yay!

 Rothenburg is a medieval city that is almost exactly as it was in the 1500's.  It is completely surrounded by a protective wall with a covered walkway on the top. 

We had lunch in my favorite place.  It's my favorite because I've eaten there with Pat, Natasha and London out on the patio when they came to visit and with Donna, Cindy and Gigi when they came to visit.  It's just a tradition now!  Hal had three types of bratwurst and Diane and I had Käsespaetzle.  

 Once there was a castle just outside of the village but it was destroyed in the 1600's.  This is the view from the wall that surrounded the castle.

We did some shopping and then dragged ourselves away and into the car for the drive to the hotel in Frankfurt.  The week went by way too fast.  It was so much fun to spend time with Hal and Diane and to get to know them better.  We're lucky to have such fun, adventurous family to share this experience of living in Europe with!   Thanks for the memories Hal and Diane!!
